Fanart of October and Mr Mirrors from Fallen London; the former left the latter functionally dead, and now both of them only exist within dreams.
Given you can only find her on a Parabolan island (or in the reflection of water), I've always associated October as a character with drowning - whether herself or others. A violent, untidy act, but (in art) the aftermath seems almost peaceful. You might also notice that the raven covering her face has a bloodstained beak, and that October herself is injured. As carefully planned as it was, I can't imagine she was in the best state of mind when she killed Mirrors.
Behind her is a jagged hole in the glass. The darkness is seeping through; could this be despair, death, the Liberation of Night, a shattered mask? The colours are loosely inspired by various atmospheric phenomena, but particularly a 22° halo. The red lines faintly visible were originally intended to be strings, representing the Red-Handed Queen (once again, look back to the bloodstained beak).
I used different lyrics for this one's title in different places: Stuck In The Mirror (Melotron) on Tumblr, and What the Water Gave Me (Florence + the Machine) on Sheezy. Both of these work pretty well, but really the latter was the main inspiration for this piece. 'cause she's a cruel mistress, and a bargain must be made...
This drawing existed as just a sketch for a long time, because I had no idea which style I wanted to do it in. I think the composition still works well, although I'd probably adjust October's pose and push the shapes further if I were to redraw it today.
